Modere Lean Body System Review : Everything you need to know about Lean Body System
Modere Lean Body System Review
A Three-Product System
To achieve the weight-loss benefits of the Modere Lean Body System, the company asks consumers to use all three products, each with a specific job in helping them to lose weight: Modere Trim, Modere Activate, and Modere Burn. Together, they constitute the Modere Lean Body System, available through Modere’s company website.
- Modere Trim: Reduces fat cell production by utilizing conjugated linoleic acid and proprietary Collagen/HA Matrix Technology. Each morning, take one spoonful immediately.
- Modere Burn: Boosts metabolism, increases calorie burn, and may assist in maintaining blood sugar levels, hence lowering cravings.
Three capsules every day. - Modere Activate: Aids in digestion, rejuvenates cellular health, and aids in the elimination of pollutants.
Each month, use for three consecutive days before bedtime.
Modere Lean Body System Before and After
Modere Trim
This product’s main ingredient is a conjugated linoleic acid (CLA), which is a fatty acid found in meat and dairy that is believed to have various health benefits. Researchers determined that it could also reduce body fat levels (1). As obesity increased worldwide, interest grew in CLA as a potential weight loss treatment.
What CLA is supposed to do is decrease body fat. While there have been no long-term studies in humans, the fat-loss claims have been extrapolated from animal studies. These studies suggest that animals lose weight with the supplement, which may translate to humans. However, the studies of CLA in humans have varied wildly in methodology, subjects, and findings. Still, this is a positive first step to understanding how CLA works to lower body fat!
Modere Trim also lists three other main ingredients:
- Liquid BioCell: Made from chicken cartilage, this ingredient provides the product with the collagen which can help lose fat and gain lean muscle. That collagen may also contribute to tightening the skin. Also included is what Modere calls HA Matrix technology, HA referring to the hyaluronic acid, which will be discussed in greater detail later.
- Sunflower seed oil: Included to bring in more fatty acids, this oil can help lower cholesterol levels, specifically LDL cholesterol—the so-called “bad cholesterol.” Its high fat content can induce weight gain when consumed in higher quantities. There may also be some risk of sunflower seed oil used in people suffering from peripheral cardiovascular disease (2).
- Citric acid: While this can help with skin infections and may prevent kidney stones, there is little evidence to suggest that citric acid is a weight-loss agent. Generally, citric acid helps kill bacteria, which does not seem to be a function of weight loss supplements. Some Modere product information suggests it may just be for flavoring (3).
When taken once daily, the CLA in Modere Trim is supposed to reduce body fat when combined with the other two products and an overall healthy lifestyle.
Certainly, our bodies make and need collagen. However, as we age, we may not make as much as we once did. Supplements, while certainly not a cure-all, can give our skin a visible boost to youthfulness and elasticity.
Even better, when combined with exercise, collagen can boost our efforts in toning muscle, as well as with muscle elasticity.
However, a supplement is not the key to transforming our bodies. The point is we need supplements to supplement our healthy lifestyles. With that in mind, to make the most out of Modere Trim, try exercising regularly and eating sensibly while you take the supplement.
Modere Activate
Used monthly, Modere Activate is a three-day cleanse
The ingredients in the cleanse Modere Active are:
- Aloe vera, which is a proven diuretic and does boast anti-inflammatory and anti-ulcerative properties, as well as a proven track record of improving intestinal health
- Ginger root, which is included to combat nausea that may come from the aloe vera’s effects
- Psyllium, a fiber that helps with digestive issues, can lower cholesterol and can assist in regulating blood sugar levels in diabetic users.
The product can help to boost metabolism, maintain blood sugar levels, and increase energy, although these claims are not confirmed by the FDA.
Like many products, Modere Activate has positive reviews from users who saw results and negative reviews from consumers who did not. There is no way to tell which of the reviewers altered their diet and exercise regimes, so the reviews (good or bad) should be taken with a grain of salt.
Modere Burn
Thermogenesis is the creation of heat by the body. It has several applications in the body, such as crisis response—an injury or infected wound often feels warm to the touch—and it occurs due to the metabolic process. Thermogenesis helps the body burn more calories during rest and during physical activity (5).
Modere Burn can help to jumpstart this process. By increasing heat generated by the body, the caloric burn should increase, allowing for weight loss.
Active ingredients in Modere Burn include caffeine and green leaf tea extract, the latter having been shown in at least one 2007 clinical trial to help reduce weight in obese subjects.
In this study, obese individuals were given the exact same diet and maintained the same activity levels. During the trials, the individuals who received a placebo didn’t experience the same weight loss that those given green tea supplements did. This is due to the fact that the green tea extract boosted energy expenditure while simultaneously oxidizing fats.
But what about caffeine? Caffeine alone may not help you lose weight (it definitely helps maintain weight!), when you combine caffeine with healthy levels of exercise, you’ll likely get a boost to weight loss. Again, it’s about combining your efforts to lead a healthy lifestyle with these supplements to boost your efforts.
Ingredients
A look at the product labels brings the proprietary blend conundrum to the forefront of considerations. By tagging the blend as proprietary, a manufacturer does not have to disclose the amounts of ingredients in that blend.
Even if we can’t know how much of a particular ingredient is included, there is plenty of science behind the ingredients used by these Modere supplements.
Modere Trim Ingredients
A one-tablespoon dose of Modere Trim contains 4.5g total fat and lists its proprietary ingredients at 5.2g. In that blend, Trim lists CLA from safflower oil, as well as Liquid BioCell, which contains:
- Chicken sternal cartilage extract providing hydrolyzed collagen type II peptides
- Chondroitin sulfate
- Hyaluronic acid
Chondroitin sulfate is often packaged with glucosamine but is not so in Trim. A 2011 study published in the Journal of the International Society of Sports Nutrition found a loss of body mass in human test subjects taking chondroitin sulfate. In that case, it was coupled with glucosamine, but these are still encouraging findings.
Also, the study examined the effect of glucosamine-chondroitin sulfate-methylsulfonylmethane (GCM) on knee pain and functionality in women with osteoarthritis. Regular exercise was part of the experiment, even in the control group.
Both groups lost weight, and while that may be partly a result of the exercise, there was nothing to suggest that glucosamine was not a factor in the weight loss.
Additionally, while hyaluronic acid is well known for its benefits in skincare, and it has been shown to help fight joint pain, most of the scientific literature surrounding hyaluronic acid and the digestive system involves helping with acid reflux.
According to the New England Journal of Medicine, acid reflux can directly contribute to weight gain, which means hyaluronic acid can help stave it off. It’s just another means for this system to help get our weight under control.
Modere Burn Ingredients
The label lists 150mg of vitamin C in one capsule of Modere Burn, and 80mcg chromium, which helps the body metabolize protein and carbohydrates.
The proprietary blend here is listed as 440mg of ThermoBlend and contains:
- Cordyceps mycelium
- Berberine from Berberis aristata root extract
- Caffeine from coffee bean extract
- Kelp extract
- Chocamine
- Olive fruit extract
- Green tea leaf extract
- Guarana seed extract
- Green coffee bean extract
- Allspice fruit
- Cassia cinnamon bark
- Ginger root
We have already discussed ginger root and green tea leaf extract. Caffeine does have weight-loss benefits related to thermogenesis.
Cordyceps mycelium naturally occurs in a fungus peculiar to certain caterpillars, though most of it used in supplements is manufactured in labs. Its main medical uses revolve around kidney and liver disorders and male sexual dysfunctions. There is little evidence that it has any effect on decreases in weight or body mass.
Kelp is included because it is well-known as a superfood. It contains alginate, a fiber proven to block glucose, triacylglycerols, and cholesterol absorption, all of which contribute to body fat.
Modere Activate Ingredients
One nine g packet of Modere Activate contains 15 mg of sodium, which may seem like a lot. Its proprietary blend contains:
- Psyllium seed husk
- Apple fruit pectin
- Turkey rhubarb root
- Milk thistle seed extract
- Sodium copper chlorophyllin
- Ginger rhizome extract
- Aloe vera inner leaf
- Dandelion leaf and root extract
Again, there is no way to know how much of each ingredient is present, so we cannot know if it occurs in quantities that can provide any benefit. Notably, the aloe vera—an active ingredient in the supplement—is listed second to last, leading one to assume (though there’s no way to know) that it is the second-smallest amount of ingredient.
Psyllium and apple fruit pectin are fibers that aid in digestion and elimination, which can contribute to weight loss. Turkey rhubarb is used as a laxative.
Milk thistle is most commonly used to treat the liver, although since there is very little scientific backing to its efficacy, its use is based on anecdotal evidence.
Using the Modere Lean Body System
Like any supplement or lifestyle product, the Modere Lean Body System has a set of instructions that, when followed, should yield better results than if the consumer makes up his own routine.
Modere instructs users to employ all three elements of the regimen as part of its catchy “Take 3, Make 3” mantra.
Trim
Modere suggests taking the one-tablespoon dose daily by adding it to a breakfast smoothie, your morning coffee, or the like.
Activate
Taken once each month for three days, Activate is the “cleanse” step in the Modere system.
Burn
The workhorse of the Modere trio, Burn requires three daily doses, each with a meal or a snack. Modere Burn is a capsule to help burn fat by inducing thermogenic metabolism that uses heat in the body to burn up more calories during rest and waking time periods.
Make Three
Once you Take Three, Modere asks you to Make Three—three of five listed lifestyle changes.
- Walk at least 7,500 steps per day (depending on height and stride length, about 3.5 miles)
- Drink 60 ounces or more of water daily
- Cut out sugary, empty-calorie beverages like soda
- Drop white flour, sugar, and rice from your diet
- Stop eating fried foods
Making three of these changes will improve your health whether you use Modere or not, but the company offers this system to help get quicker and better results.
Speaking of Exercise
Modere goes past just telling users they should do a little more than open powder packets or swallow pills. In a fairly comprehensive instructional booklet, the company makes this statement: “In order to lose weight, you must eat fewer calories than you burn.”
While this is an indisputable truth, it is hardly ever something any diet or weight loss product mentions. This statement alone lends credence to the Modere Lean Body System.
The booklet provides a handy chart with recommended numbers of servings of proteins, carbs, and the like based on different daily caloric intakes and later provides a sample weekly exercise routine for users to follow, adapt, or simply use as a starting point.
The key takeaway here, again, is that Modere recognizes the necessity of diet and exercise changes if there is to be any weight loss success story.
The rest of the booklet has convincing before-and-after photos, user testimonies, and various charts for tracking one’s weight loss and body mass loss progress. It seems like the kind of literature that if you follow it and use it as intended, it could end up making a real difference in your health and lifestyle whether you take the Modere Lean Body System products or not.
